Buyer: Perrigo Co.

Seller: Velcera Inc.

Price: $160 Million

Terms: Acquisition

Perrigo Co. reported record second-quarter revenue and earnings on February 1 at the same it announced it had extended its involvement in the pet health care market with another acquisition.

Perrigo has acquired Velcera Inc., a Yardley, Pa.-based maker of PetArmor over-the-counter pet health care products, for $160 million in cash. In October 2012,  Perrigo acquired Sergeant’s Pet Care Products Inc.

In a news release, Perrigo Chairman Joseph C. Papa said, “The PetArmor franchise will accelerate our strategy to deliver compelling value to both our retail customers and American consumers.”

Buyer: Radio Systems Corporation – owners of PetSafe

Seller: Pup-Pee Solutions

Price: Undisclosed

Terms: Acquisition

Radio Systems Corp., the manufacturer of PetSafe, SportDog and Invisible Fence products, has added another brand, Pup-Pee Solutions, to its collection.

Pup-Pee Solutions, founded in 2003 by Australian couple Tobi and Simone Skovron, makes the Pet Loo artificial lawn potty platform and other indoor waste-management products.

Terms of Radio Systems’ purchase of Pup-Pee Solutions were not disclosed.

“Pet Loo has defined a category that didn’t exist five years ago, and it continues to innovate and expand the pet waste management category,” said Mike Taylor, vice president of PetSafe. “Pup-Pee Solutions is a young, dynamic and thriving company that we want to build our pet waste management ideas around.”

The sale, announced Feb. 1, came eight weeks after Knoxville, Tenn.-based Radio Systems acquired Lucky Litter LLC, the maker of ScoopFree litterboxes and FroliCat pet toys.
